These vintage hair clips probably date from the xxxx's. These are labeled "City of Paris San Francisco". City of Paris was a famous upscale department store that started in xxxx:

You can use these similar to a bow tie as well. The metal clips are marked "Lady Ellen". They measure 7" wide x 3" high.
