NUnit is an open source unit testing framework for Microsoft .NET. It serves the same purpose as JUnit does in the Java world, and is one of many in the xUnit family.
NUnit is similar to JUnit as it has a graphical user interface(GUI). Many tests can be run continuously with results provided immediately. NUnit consist of a simple framework which allows it to easily correct bugs as they are found. The current version of NUnit is written in C#, an object-oriented programming language(OOP). NUnit is one of a family of related testing frameworks known as xUnit. Test-driven development (TDD) is a software development process that relies on the repetition of a very short development cycle: first the developer writes an (initially failing) automated test case that defines a desired improvement or new function, then produces the minimum amount of code to pass that test and finally refactors the new code to acceptable standards. Kent Beck, who is credited with having developed or 'rediscovered' the technique, stated in xxxx that TDD encourages simple designs and inspires confidence.
In test-driven development a developer creates automated unit tests that define code requirements then immediately writes the code itself. The tests contain assertions that are either true or false. Passing the tests confirms correct behavior as developers evolve and refactor the code. Developers often use testing frameworks, such as xUnit, to create and automatically run sets of test cases.
