Looking for committed students willing to commute to Poulsbo for occasional lessons -- Bainbridge or Kingston ferries give you a chance to listen to jazz. If you live in Kitsap Co., you don't get the fun ferry ride...

Have Masters in Music in Jazz Pedagogy & most recently was on music faculty of Eastern, teaching jazz piano & popular music studies. Author of "The Black/White Shape System", (in edits now for publication) -- a new concept for the organization of intervallic shapes, & an advanced method book related to the mastery of jazz chord voicings & their use for upper structures & linear improvisation.
Student of Jerome Gray, Gene Harris, Joe Sample, & George Duke. Have music/recording studio in Poulsbo, for teaching & recording CD masters. Was Artist-in-Residence at W.W.U./Fairhaven College.
Performed live or in recording sessions with: Charles Lloyd, Fred Raulston, Azar Lawrence, Walter Zuber Armstrong, Jimmy Witherspoon, Robben Ford, Woody Woodhouse, Eric Burdon, Jim Morrison, & others. Play all popular music styles -- but jazz is the master language that will allow you to play anything that you can hear. Jazz gives you the tools that you need, in order to improvise well in any style. You may play in a rock band, but you need the classical music of our day & age -- JAZZ -- in order to grow into a master musician & strong soloist. This knowledge will make you a better player for any style of music. Plus, with your chops (& ears) expanded, you'll be able to play more types of gigs, & make more money.
Write me with your interest & where you're at as a player & student, & include your phone number, & I'll get back to you with my contact information. Because there are scamming & fraudulant fools out there, looking for identity theft, I have to start contact this way (I've learned the 'hard way'). Thanks for understanding -- I hope to hear from folks serious about learning to play better.
