Friendship Circle of Washington engages teenage volunteers in service that positively impacts the lives of kids with special needs and their families. We bring together teen volunteers and kids with special needs for social recreation, therapy, and education. These activities promote inclusion for youths with special needs, provide respite to their families, and transform volunteers into the leaders of tomorrow.
We have a waiting list of families that want our help! Kids waiting to make friends! Teens waiting to make a difference in their community! Friendship Circle is a seeking a talented Development and Communication Coordinator to help us grow our organization and reach these waiting audiences.
This is a 40-hour per week position that reports directly to the Executive Director. Our office is located in Mercer Island.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Development:
? Independently research and pursue new grant opportunities
? Maintain grants calendar; develop and submit grants on schedule
? Assist with online and direct mail fund-raising
? Strengthen relationships with existing funders and donors, and cultivate relationships with new donors
? Write program and grant reports
? Maintain donor database
Communications:
? Strengthen Friendship Circle's social media presence (Facebook, Twitter)
? Regularly update the Friendship Circle website (no HTML required)
? Write on-message press releases, advertising copy, etc.
? Write engaging newsletters, holiday letters, et
Event-related Fundraising:
? Assist with planning various minor and three major events: Walk With Friendship in fall (400+ attendees), Heroes Gala in spring (500+ attendees), 24-hour giving campaign in December
? Coordinate and compose event communications, including email campaigns, direct-mailings, tweets, etc.
? Track event donations and ensure prompt recognition
? Secure in-kind donations and sponsorships
Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience may be substituted
? 2 years in a non-profit environment
? 1 year experience with development, communications, or marketing
? Proficient with Microsoft Office
? Familiarity with database systems
? Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
? Flexible, self-motivated, and out-going
Desired Qualifications:
? Experience with any of Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, CRM databases, or Adobe Creative Cloud a major plus
? Experience with Google AdWords or online advertising
? Proven track record of growing audiences on social media
? Demonstrated ability to secure grant funding
? Experience with event planning
